We Must Do What Jesus said!
(part 4)
"And, seeing the multitude
" "Then, He (Jesus) said
"
"Therefore, pray
"
(see Matt. 9:36-38)
This is the Lord's Day. Today, we will follow the New Testament practice of gathering to worship the Risen Christ. We will be worshipping together but what about the multitude?
As you drive to and from Calvary today, what will you notice? Can you make this time a prayer-drive? Have you heard of prayer-walking? As you drive-pray!
Slow down and notice what is going on in the "multitude" around you. What are your neighbors doing this morning? How many of them share your joy in the Risen Savior? Are they looking for joy somewhere else? Behind the lawn-mower? In a boat? At a ball field? In a beer can?
Let's remember what Jesus saw. When He saw the multitude, He saw the need of their hearts. That is what we want to see.
We are not judging those who don't go to church today! We are asking God to help us see them. We can't love them, if we don't see them. We can't long for them to know Jesus, if we never see them!
Spring is a great time to notice people. Emerging from the hibernation of winter, our neighborhoods come alive with activity. Let's pray that we will see the need for new life in the people of our community and that God will send us into the harvest.
Easter Weekend is only three weeks away. People will be thinking about going to church that day. What about the people you will notice as you drive to church? Do they know they can go with you?
Father,
Help me to see the people that You have placed in my path. Show me the need of their heart. Give me eyes to see and a heart that cares.
You alone can give new life to an empty heart.
Show me how to approach my neighbors to invite them to church.
I pray in Jesus' Name, Amen
